ABOUT THE HOTEL | |||
The Herculaneum Bridge Hotel was built in the middle of the 19th Century, and is a fine example of Victorian
architecture. A large glass roof dome in the breakfast room is a particularly interesting feature. The Hotel is situated
in the district of Dingle just inland from what used to be the Herculaneum Dock. It was frequented by the crews of
the sailing ships which used to anchor in the dock. A particularly colourful past landlord of the Hotel had a wooden
leg, hence the nickname "Peglegs". |
